Should You Choose JPEG or PNG?

Pick JPEG for photographs. It produces much smaller files, and the lossy compression is barely noticeable on photos. Pick PNG for logos, icons, screenshots, or anything with sharp edges — and especially if your image has a transparent background, since PNG is the only one of the two that can keep transparency.
