This free tool makes a background transparent by removing every pixel that matches a color you choose. It works best on images with a clean, even backdrop โ product photos on white, logos, icons, and shots taken against a green or blue screen. The result downloads as a PNG so the transparency is preserved.
Everything runs entirely inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so your files stay private and the processing happens instantly, even offline.
Because this tool targets a specific color, it shines when the background is a single flat tone and clearly different from the subject. A product on a white sweep, a logo on a solid field, or a subject shot against a green screen will all cut out cleanly in a few seconds.
It struggles when the background is busy or gradient-filled, when the subject contains the same color as the background (a white shirt on white, for instance), or around soft edges like hair and fur, where pixels blend between subject and backdrop. For photos like those, an AI-based cutout tool or manual masking in an image editor will give a better result. Once you have a transparent PNG, you can shrink it with our PNG compressor.
Increase the tolerance so more nearby shades are treated as background. Backgrounds are rarely one perfectly uniform color, especially where lighting falls unevenly.
Lower the tolerance. A high value can also remove colors in the subject that are close to the background color.
PNG is one of the few common formats that can store transparency. Saving as JPEG would fill the transparent areas back in with a solid color.
